Vote 4 EducationAccording to Expect More Arizona, "A high quality education system is critical for ready kids, ready graduates and a ready workforce. It also drives a more prosperous Arizona. This election season, make education your top priority and let your candidates know it's important to you. "

As a result, they suggest making sure candidates are true champions of education by understanding their answers to the following four questions:

  1. Is education one of their top two priorities?
  2. Do they have a clear plan with specific strategies for how they will address the biggest issues affecting education in our state?
  3. Are they willing to invest resources in education to support Arizona’s long-term success?
  4. How will they challenge Arizonans to expect more and do more for education?

Several candidate surveys have become available to learn more about where they stand on education:

Community Conclusions of 2010 Community Conversations

  1. Civic Responsibility: For the state to be changed, citizens need to change; so each of us is consistently thinking and acting with a sense of civic responsibility.
  2. Strategic Plan: The current model for state funding of public education needs to be replaced with a proactive strategic plan supporting and sustaining a public education system.
  3. Healthy Budget: Arizona is on the brink of devastating its citizenry's contributions and creating a mass exodus of business. Generating a stable revenue stream for financing public education is an important aspect to retaining and improving our business climate.

In February, hundreds of people joined together to frame the needs and commitments to begin the process of identifying community objectives. The April 12 forum was the next step to communicate with each other and lawmakers the grassroots commitment of citizens to be a part of the larger process to improve public education in our state.
